You’re The Best Mom

I’m not the Pinterest mom.

I wish I was, but I’ve never been crafty.  Once I became a mom I REALLY wished I was crafty.  Not just for the kid’s sake, but to keep up with the other moms who were!  I want to be the best mom ever.  But I often end up looking at what other moms are doing and feel guilty that I’m not doing the same.

Our family is never going to be the picture-perfect family.  And that’s okay.  I can tell you that special needs were never on my radar.  But, despite the unexpected, it’s so much better than I hoped it would be.

Somewhere along the line, I came across the concept that God has chosen your child to be yours intentionally.  You know, like a match made in heaven.  I’d never thought of it that way before.

If God chose me to be Mom to these three children, I must have something that they need that nobody else in the world has.

Isn’t that a wild thought?

So instead of feeling pressure to be the ultimate mom, I focus on meeting the needs of my own kids, however that may look.

So, if you are a mother on this Mother’s Day and you’re feeling like you’re falling short and falling apart, don’t!

God has put you in your child’s life for a reason.  Rest in the fact that you have everything he/she/they need.  Be ready to try, fail, get back up again and try something else.  You being Mom is not a mistake, and you really can do it.  And if you feel like you can’t handle it, good!  That’s where God wants you to be in this and every other area of your life.  Your weakness causes you to turn to Him, and He will give you strength.  We’re not meant to do this on our own!  You may feel inadequate, but with God’s help, you can not only survive motherhood but thrive in it too!

When your child tells you you are the best mom this weekend, remember that it’s true – you really ARE the best mom for your sweet one.
